Gain insights into how Banqer uses Onwardly's scoring, reporting, and roadmap features to achieve quantifiable cyber resilience and foster a culture of privacy and security across their organisation.🦸🦹
Onwardly's security and privacy resilience scoring has helped Banqer to objectively measure their performance and accurately assess their true resiliency.
Banqer has a plan in place using the platform's roadmap and runbook features, which foster a team approach to security and privacy.
Through Onwardly's reporting capabilities, Banqer has been able to enhance their reputation and quickly develop confidence and trust by their accreditation body.
As a provider of educational software for schools in New Zealand, Banqer recognises the critical importance of safeguarding their data and strengthening their cyber resilience for their users: rangatahi (young people).
"We wanted a solution that was fit for purpose, reflecting our age and stage, while delivering the outcomes we wanted for our customers and people. After looking at what was available, Onwardly stood out as serving this purpose perfectly."

Prior to implementing Onwardly, Banqer lacked a clear benchmark of their performance when it came to their privacy and security obligations. Additionally, without a clear roadmap to enhance and refine implementation practices, they didn't have oversight over how to continually improve their security and privacy scores.
"This was a material pain point that's been solved for us," says Kendall.
Another key driver: Banqer works with schools and manages the data of minors, which means they engage directly with the public sector. Privacy and security regulations have been quickly evolving in this sector, and Banqer wanted to have absolute confidence that they would be "at the front of the pack in terms of meeting the requirements."
"This has created a level of objective organisational accountability that, prior, at all levels of the organisation (board included) was vague, or somewhat subjective," says Kendall.
Now, Banqer has clear benchmarking, that along with accountability, has resulted in a roadmap with planned improvements that various team members are responsible for and are empowered to fulfil.
Banqer now has clear insights into their current position and a path forward for what to do next. Not only this, tasks are now shared amongst the team - to which Kendall calls this a "game changer" as a busy co-CEO where "lots of things can feel both important and urgent."
As a small team, it's important to have constructive conversations about where to best spend their time. According to Kendall, "it's also just fun, and something I want to take ownership of now. That certainly wasn't the case before the started using Onwardly."
"Perhaps most importantly, Onwardly has supported our ability to foster an all-team culture of privacy and security resilience. Already, our roadmap has impacted the entire team and their day to day in some way (even something as seemingly small as ensuring personal devices are appropriately managed and secure). Given the vulnerability that we as people present, our ability to influence our company’s resilience is material."

As Banqer works with young people and the public sector, they are required to meet certain privacy and security standards, to which the processes can be time-consuming and comprehensive.
"Through using Onwardly, we've been able to streamline those processes, and also quickly develop confidence and trust in us by the accreditation body, due to the sophistication of what we can provide them, and the comprehensive understanding of our current resilience levels."
Kendall also shares that this has supported conversations with customers, and fostered trust with schools within their growth market, "particularly those in the private sector who understandably demand high security and privacy standards on behalf of their students and their families."
"It's a need," says Kendall. "We use so many tools and platforms to survive and thrive as businesses now. Some you use because you have to, but some you use because you want to. While I believe Onwardly is going to be critical to our organisational success over the next three years, I already just want to use the tool."
Banqer values the easy of use of the Onwardly platform, along with the responsiveness of the team. "Having my queries resolved quickly makes a big difference, as I’m often working to a deadline, or want to keep momentum with external conversations," says Kendall.
"The experience with Onwardly has been fantastic from the outset. It’s clear the product has been built by experts in the field, but also by people who know what makes for a good platform experience. The level of service certainly exceeded my expectations, and I feel as though I can call on Onwardly whenever I’m stuck, or if I am uncertain about anything. On top of that they’ve curated a community and education resources that help me stay across meaningful developments in the sector."
